EQUINE-ASSISTED DEVELOPMENT WITH ALEXANDRA DUNN

What is Equine-Assisted Development?

Our presence and energy tell a story words often can't. It is through this silent language that a unique and powerful connection forms between horse and human—a connection that offers a profound way to learn more about yourself. Horses, with their natural sensitivity, sense what we are feeling on the inside and reflect it back to us without judgment. By working alongside them, we develop and strengthen essential skills such as self-awareness, confidence, emotional regulation, and communication. In the presence of a horse, we learn to stay grounded, present, and empowered, reconnecting with our true selves through this gentle and honest partnership.

Is It Effective?

Research into Equine-Assisted Development and healing has shown significant benefits for mental, emotional, and behavioral health. Studies indicate that working with horses can reduce stress, anxiety, and symptoms of PTSD, while enhancing self-esteem, emotional regulation, and social skills. Horses, as highly intuitive animals, respond to human emotions and behaviors in real time, offering immediate, honest feedback without judgment. This unique dynamic fosters self-awareness and personal growth, making equine-assisted programs effective for individuals dealing with trauma, addiction, anxiety, and a range of developmental or emotional challenges.

Who Can Benefit from EAD?

Equine-Assisted Development and healing can benefit a wide range of individuals, including those seeking personal growth, deeper connection, acceptance, and self-understanding. It supports individuals, teams, organizations, families, and groups looking to improve communication, collaboration, and relationships. Young people often gain confidence, resilience, and stronger communication skills, while feeling empowered through their experiences. This work is also especially helpful for anyone navigating life transitions or working through emotional blocks, feelings of being stuck, overwhelm, anxiety, trauma, addiction, or grief.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to have experience?

No experience is needed. Alexandra always give a 'being safe around the herd/horse' talk before you and her go into the field. You will be taught how to listen, and understand the horse's language.

Will I be riding?

You do not ride; you are alongside the horse on the ground. Most sessions involve being at liberty with the herd; however, this is based on your comfort levels. Sessions can involve leaning on the fence observing the herd if that is your preference.

What should I wear?

Always dress for any weather, (layers is best), and please wear sturdy boots/shoes. Feel free to bring bug spray and sunscreen

Location and Cost
